About my lessons

Whether you are a beginner or advanced player, I am here to help.  I have been performing professionally since I was 15 and teaching since I 1992.  It is my goal to help you improve musically so you can reach your goals.  I offer several different types of services and hope that one of them will be of help to you.  Whether you are new to music or needing advanced help, know that I am here for you.  The youngest aged student that I prefer to work with would be one who is in Grade 3.

Below please find the different lesson options I provide.

The prices you will see below are for you to come to me.  If you are unable to come to me, and my schedule allows, I may be able to come to you.  Be aware that if you choose this option, a trip fee will be charged to you in addition to your instructional fee.  This charge applies each time a trip is made to you.  This additional fee is currently $50 per trip.  Thank you for your understanding.

Coaching/ Session Work

Time slots for this his type of lesson are not structured, have no weekly commitment and are scheduled "as needed".  This type of lesson is designed for those who might be wanting extra help on a performance or audition piece(s).  Lessons are scheduled as needed and I will work to fit you in to my calendar at a time that is convenient for us both.  With this type of lesson you may wish for one session or several but there is typically a distinct goal and purpose for the lessons.  Once that goal is achieved, and you no longer need me for that goal, you will be on file with me as a "Student PRN" and I will work to schedule you with priority the next time you need me.

Rates for Coaching/Session Work are per session:

$40 for 30 minute time block

$60 for 60 minute time block*

*After 6 sessions, if you think that you may wish for a long term relationship, and we agree that it would be a benefit to you to switch to the the High Discipline Instruction,  I will lower your rate to $50 per 60 minute time block of the High Discipline Instruction.

High Discipline Instruction

This is great for students wanting to be pushed to be the best they can be and have committed to weekly lessons.  With this type of lesson structure, we are working together to help you achieve your goals to be the best you can be.  Lessons are demanding and challenging.  Practice requirements start at 420 minutes a week.  The more you invest in practice, the faster you can progress.  There will be lots of scales and technic work done as well as working toward mastering tone quality, articulations, sound production, intonation, agility, and musicality.  This is not for the faint of heart but for those who want to be the best they can be.

Rates for High Discipline Instruction lessons are per session, and are typically scheduled once or twice a week:

Due to the nature of this instruction, shorter lessons are not available.

$60 for a 60 minute time block.

Basic Lessons

This is a great private lesson option for students who are committing to a weekly lesson schedule and are needing less intense instruction time.  Perhaps they are needing to be better in their band but are not pushing for first chair or for competitions.  It is also great for someone just wanting to learn an instrument to play for fun, for themselves or for less discipline in their studies.  These lessons are structured sessions that help students to become better and advance without high pressure.  In addition to teaching proficiency on the desired instrument, I may also be teaching basics, like simple theory while also possibly teaching the student how to read music.  With this lesson structure, I encourage at least 210 minutes of practice a week to keep moving forward.

Rates for Basic Lessons are per session, and are typically scheduled once a week:

$25 for a 30 minute time block

$40 for a 45 minute time block

$50 for a 60 minute time block
